Welcome to the September 2025 release of our Equalities Monthly newsletter!


We've got lots of exciting updates to share with you all, from our new project announcements to all the latest partners news and consultations, have a read and find out more.


We are always on the lookout for new activities and updates to add to our monthly, if you or your organisation has something coming up that you would like us to share, contact us and let us know.

What have we been up to at FCE?



The Fife Equalities Forum came together on Wed 13 Aug 2025 to discuss the latest equalities goings-on and partners' updates.


The Common Grounds Network has been working on developing the designs for the Beveridge Park Peace Garden.


On Tue 12 Aug 2025 we were on the road with our Get-Togethers in St. Andrews!

Our Let's Chat service hopes to learn more about your views on services across Fife, what is working well about them and what may need extra improvements.

Fife Inclusion Network:

The next FIN Get-Together will be on Wed 24 Sep 2025, from 10:00 to 12:00, we will be in Glenrothes at St. Ninians Church, Tanshall Road East, Glenrothes KY6 2LP.


There will be a mix of family friendly activities and a chance to discuss what is going on in your life with others!


Our get-together is a fantastic opportunity to meet each other and continue strengthening inclusion across Fife, and having a chat about getting involved in developing the FIN network steering group and help in planning and give ideas for future get-togethers.

The next Fife Equalities Forum will be taking place on Wed 10 Sep 2025 from 14:00!

Fife Common Grounds Network:

The Fife Common Grounds Network is always on the lookout for new members, if you are interested in religion and belief, humanity and community integration, it might be the group for you!


The network is open to those with a religion or belief, as well as those who may not necessarily follow a specific belief but are looking to connect with others.

FCE Companion Support:

The Companion Support Project was created to build a network of volunteers who are passionate about reducing social isolation, connecting people and groups and making Fife a fairer place for all.


Funded by the Fife Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, our Companion Support (CS), volunteers work in a group setting to empower others, and encourage them to make new connections and friendships.


It is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and learn valuable new skills.

Joining our Board:


We are recruiting suitably skilled people to join the Board to help deliver our vision and mission.


If you are passionate about equality, diversity, inclusion, and social justice, then this could be the volunteering role you’ve been looking for.


Applicants should have a passion and commitment to build a collective voice to champion equality, diversity, inclusion and social justice, along with the ability to provide strong governance and direction to ensure the delivery of our objectives.


These Trustee positions are voluntary, however, out-of-pocket expenses will be met.

Our Equality Calendar showcases all of the upcoming equalities awareness days, partners events and local consultations! Check out some of the upcoming international days below: 

  • International Day of Charity - 05 Sep: Charitable efforts now influence public policy, fund innovation, and support communities where public services fall short. In fragile regions, they often fill critical gaps where governments cannot.

  • International Day of Democracy - 15 Sep: A renewed global commitment to maintaining democratic values.

  • International Day of Sign Languages - 23 Sep: The International Day of Sign Languages is a unique opportunity to support and protect the linguistic identity and cultural diversity of all deaf people and other sign language users.

  • International Translation Day - 30 Sep: International Translation Day is meant as an opportunity to pay tribute to the work of language professionals, which plays an important role in bringing nations together, facilitating dialogue, understanding and cooperation.

Our Partners' News and Events

Quaker Week: Cuppa, Conversation and Connecting Event:


As part of Quaker Week 2025, Central Fife Quakers warmly invite you to join them for a 'Cuppa, Conversation and Connecting' event. It's a chance to connect, chat together, and enjoy some delicious hot drinks and cakes in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

 

Whether you're familiar with Quaker traditions, curious, or just want to chat, everyone is welcome - of any faith or none. 


Come as you are - there's no agenda, just good company and a warm cup of coffee.


What If? Walk & Talk Session:


Fife Council and The Pars Foundation have teamed up to run What If? Walk & Talk Sessions as part of Fife Suicide Prevention Awareness Week 2025. 


What if a conversation about suicide could save a life? Talking about suicide is the best way to prevent it from happening, so join the Walk & Talk session for a chat, listen, and be active. 


Everyone is welcome and there's no need to book, just come along. 


The walk leader at this session will be Eddie Martin from The Pars Foundation and refreshments will be provided.


Locality Planning – October Bitesize Sessions:


Following feedback from the Integrated Leadership Team, Fife Health and Social Care Partnership is running short drop-in sessions throughout October to raise awareness of Locality Planning.


Locality Planning brings services and partners together to improve health and wellbeing across our communities. It ensures decisions about local health and social care are made closer to the people who use them.

Consultations to look out for

DO Choimhearsnachd Gàidhlig / Your Gaelic Community:


From Fife Council: "Fife Council is committed to supporting Gaelic language and culture and we want to ensure that Fifes Gaelic Language Plan 2025-2030 considers the views of the whole Gaelic community and those looking to engage with Gaelic Language and Culture."


All feedback will be considered for the upcoming Fife Gaelic Plan. For more information, click here.

Fife's Local Dementia Action Plan:


From Fife Council:

"To help shape the local Dementia Action Plan for Fife, we want to hear from people who use dementia services, their families and carers, and members of the public to help us ensure that our approach reflects local needs and priorities, builds on existing strengths in dementia care and support and addresses gaps and challenges which are unique to Fife."


Cowdenbeath Area Community Food Education Survey:


This survey is part of a wider effort to design and improve free cooking and food education programmes. By hearing directly from you, services can ensure these initiatives are shaped by the people they are meant to serve. 


They are looking for the views of people who live in the Cowdenbeath Area Committee area (Ward 7 and Ward 8) and includes the communities of :- Auchterderran, Ballingry, Bowhill, Cardenden, Cowdenbeath, Crossgates, Crosshill, Cluny, Dundonald, Glencraig, Hill of Beath, Lochgelly, Lochore, Lumphinans and Kelty.
