Hello world!

We've got lots of exciting updates to share with you all, from our new project announcements to all the latest partners news and consultations, have a read and find out more.

We are always on the lookout for new activities and updates to add to our monthly, if you or your organisation has something coming up that you would like us to share, contact us and let us know.

You can also submit events to our Equality Calendar!

What have we been up to at FCE?

Our Fife Equalities Forum was cancelled in July due to holidays and meetings overlapping. The Forum is about sharing updates, opportunities to work together and more.

We celebrated 10 Years of FCE on Wed 15 Jul 2026 at the Adam Smith Theatre!

The FIN team were at Pittencrief Park with clients on Tue 28 Jul! It was great to catch-up with clients and talk about their experiences of living, working and studying in Fife.

As always, we have published a range of exciting new events and consultations on our Equality Calendar! Keep posted for more.

What's happening at FCE?

Fife Inclusion Network:

We enjoyed a relaxing walk in the park, spending time outdoors, and contributing to our daily step count and wellbeing. We were lucky to visit the just opened “Digitise Your Soul” exhibition at Pittencrieff House. It was a good reminder that simply stepping outside your front door can lead you to unexpected discoveries. The Fife Inclusion Network, July Get Together, took place in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline. Once again, we found out that unforeseen circumstances such as the weather and last-minute change of the location could not dampen our spirits and enthusiasm for meeting together.

Interested in getting involved? Join us and be a member of the Fife Inclusion Network Fife Inclusion Network | FCE Inclusion Network | FCE. You can also contact us using info@centreforequalities.org.uk, call 01592 645310 or text 07700 149871.

Fife Equalities Forum:

Our next session will take place on Wed 12 Aug 2026 from 14:00 online.

The Forum is a great opportunity to learn more about the different groups and organisations working in Fife, the barriers they are facing and how we can work together to improve things for everyone.

Volunteer Recruitment: Community Peer Researchers

As part of our volunteer project, we will soon be expanding our project to include community researchers. This will involve volunteers conducting research in their local areas and communities focused on mental health and overall wellbeing, as well as various other topics. Full training will be provided over the course of a few months.

If this sounds interesting to you and you’d like to find out more, please get in touch. Our first training session takes place in September.

The Companion Support Project was created to build a network of volunteers who are passionate about reducing social isolation, connecting people and groups and making Fife a fairer place for all.

Funded by the Fife Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, our Companion Support (CS), volunteers work in a group setting to empower others, and encourage them to make new connections and friendships.

It is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and learn valuable new skills.

If you'd be interested in volunteering with us, please contact maria@centreforequalities.org.uk, call us on 01592 645310 or text 07700149871

Joining our Board:

We are recruiting suitably skilled people to join the Board to help deliver our vision and mission.

If you are passionate about equality, diversity, inclusion, and social justice, then this could be the volunteering role you’ve been looking for.

Applicants should have a passion and commitment to build a collective voice to champion equality, diversity, inclusion and social justice, along with the ability to provide strong governance and direction to ensure the delivery of our objectives.

These Trustee positions are voluntary, however, out-of-pocket expenses will be met.

For more information, please contact Elric Honoré, Chief Executive, elric@centreforequalities.org.uk or 01592 645 310.

Equality Calendar Dates to look out for:

Our Equality Calendar showcases all of the upcoming equalities awareness days, partners events and local consultations! Check out some of the upcoming international days below:

  • International Day of Indigenous Peoples 9 August: Around 200 groups of Indigenous Peoples currently live in voluntary isolation and initial contact. They reside in remote forests rich in natural resources in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Peru and Venezuela. They choose to live detached from the rest of the world and their mobility pattern allows them to engage in gathering and hunting, thereby preserving their cultures and languages. These peoples have a strict dependency on their ecological environment. Any changes to their natural habitat can harm both the survival of individual members and the group as a whole.

  • International Youth Day 12 August: International Youth Day is a United Nations observance held annually on 12 August. The day celebrates the qualities and contributions of young people around the world and recognises the challenges they face in areas including education, employment, health, and civic participation. It serves as a platform to raise awareness of the issues affecting youth and to amplify their voices in shaping the future of their communities and nations.

  • World Humanitarian Day 19 August: World Humanitarian Day is an international observance dedicated to recognizing the efforts of humanitarian workers and raising awareness about the ongoing challenges faced by people affected by crises around the world. This day honors those who have lost their lives while providing humanitarian assistance and celebrates the spirit of solidarity and compassion that drives humanitarian work.

  • Internationald Day for People of African Descent 31 August: A celebration of the enormous contributions of people of African descent to every field of human endeavour.

  • Supporting Gaelic language and cultural activities for people across a wide range of ages and interests. (Support in the home; Creative industries)

  • Promoting and supporting access to Gaelic education in early years, primary and secondary settings. (0-18 Education)
