Out and About:

BSL Culture Day 2026:

On Sat 21 Mar we were at the BSL Culture Day at the Carnegie Libraries, it was a great opportunity to connect with BSL users and hard of hearing individuals from across Fife, as well as catching up with the organisations that support them!

A special thank you to the Deaf Communication Service for having us on the day.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Scotland - Annual Peace Symposium:

On Sat 28 Mar 2026, Katja was at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community's Annual Peace Symposium at the Edinburgh Academy. The event was dedicated to “promoting dialogue, mutual respect, and lasting peace within our society.” And with that, came an abundance of powerful conversations, meaningful insights and potential concerns raised by the communities.

It was fantastic to see some of the examples of positive collaboration that have taken place across Fife and beyond.

If you would like to learn more about the event, Katja has written a blog on her experience, click below to read more:

Fife Inclusion Network:

Our Fife Inclusion Network (FIN) brings people from different communities together to discuss what matters to them in their local area and learn about activities in their community hubs.

The aim of the network is to raise awareness of the different organisations and services available to support communities in Fife, and we do this via a number of avenues, such as:

  • Monthly Get-Togethers

  • 1-2-1 Casework Support

  • Visiting and engaging with Partner Organisations

  • Creating a network of likeminded individuals from a range of different backgrounds

Our membership is open to anyone who is interested in forming new connections, looking for support or advice and wanting to find out more about what is happening in their area.

The Companion Support Project was created to build a network of volunteers who are passionate about reducing social isolation, connecting people and groups and making Fife a fairer place for all.

Funded by the Fife Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, our Companion Support (CS), volunteers work in a group setting to empower others, and encourage them to make new connections and friendships.

It is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and learn valuable new skills.

If you'd be interested in volunteering with us, please contact maria@centreforequalities.org.uk, call us on 01592 645310 or text 07800 005834.

We are recruiting suitably skilled people to join the Board to help deliver our vision and mission.

If you are passionate about equality, diversity, inclusion, and social justice, then this could be the volunteering role you’ve been looking for.

Applicants should have a passion and commitment to build a collective voice to champion equality, diversity, inclusion and social justice, along with the ability to provide strong governance and direction to ensure the delivery of our objectives.

These Trustee positions are voluntary, however, out-of-pocket expenses will be met.

Consultations to look out for

Kirkcaldy 20 mph Speed Limit Consultation:

The Scottish Government published a Road Safety Framework which sets out a vision for Scotland to have the best road safety performance in the world by 2030 and a compelling long-term vision for road safety, Vision Zero, where there are zero fatalities and serious injuries on Scotland's roads by 2050.

Setting speed limits contributes to this vision, and Fife Council have adopted the national policy to introduce 20 mph speed limits in all our towns and villages. This includes Kirkcaldy and we are keen to share our proposals with you. Please see the list of locations and attached location plans showing the proposals for Kirkcaldy which can be made available in print on request.

Let's Talk Lochgelly - Youth Provision:

From Fife Council:

Following the Let’s Talk Lochgelly consultation, we’re building on your feedback to create an action plan that truly reflects the community’s vision—and how we can make it happen.

We want to hear from young people across the Lochgelly area. Tell us:

  • What you're currently involved in

  • Your thoughts, ideas, and opinions on how youth groups, clubs, and projects could be shaped

  • Suggestions for new activities or services you'd like to see for yourself and other young people

Community Learning in Dunfermline - Consultation 2025:
