Active Fife Summer Walking Challenge

Active Fife have launched their summer walking challenge! To celebrate the AIG Women's Open taking place in St. Andrews this month, they are challenging Fifers to walk the distance of the Old Course at St Andrews every day.

Walking is a great way to keep active because almost everyone can do it – no matter your age, income, gender or ability. It is free, and no special equipment is needed so it is an easy and accessible way to build in physical activity as part of your everyday life.

Consultations to look out for

Let's talk about bus journeys in Fife:

From Fife Council:

We are carrying out a survey to understand how the council's supported bus network in Fife is performing and whether it is meeting your needs.

The Council has limited resources available and is looking at how to best use these to support and improve Fife’s bus network.  Most bus users are unlikely to notice a difference between a commercial and a supported bus service or journey. In many cases they are run by the same bus operators, using the same buses and drivers. The only difference is how these buses are funded.

Commercial bus services are run by bus operators for a profit. This means that if a route has low passenger numbers and is not profitable, the bus company may stop running that service. When this happens, Fife Council often step in and pay for a bus company to continue to run that service. These are called Supported (or tendered) Services. Bus fares are not enough to cover the costs of running these services which means that without financial support from Fife Council they probably wouldn’t run. The Council funds these Supported Services so that the bus network serves as many people in Fife as possible.

Paton Street Greenspace Consultation:

From Fife Council:

Consultation to gather local people’s thoughts around using the communal space between Lauder Street and Donald Street as a community garden greenspace.  Current ideas so far include: space to grow food, sensory area, a seating area, some fruit trees and space for kids to run around.  We want to know what your ideas are and more importantly, if you want to get involved and make something special in your community!

For more information click here.

'Moving on' from care into adulthood consultation:

The Scottish Government are committed to Keeping the Promise to all children and young people by 2030. This includes making sure that all children and young people with care experience are given the support they need to help them move on from care into adulthood and more independent living.

This consultation is about ensuring that young people leaving care and moving into adulthood have the right scaffolding of support available to ensure they thrive.

To read the consultation paper, please click here.

Children's hearings redesign:

This consultation is part of a series of steps to ensure that Scotland’s children’s hearings system can be redesigned to build on its strengths so that it can deliver the best possible experience to the children and families in need of its support.
